For over 15 years he avidly followed the intricacy of the mental health system and its conflicting relationship with a judicial system that criminalizes the mentally ill, resulting in injustice to them and aggravating their illness, with devastating consequences for the rest of their lives.

Why this book

The author’s hope is plain: that this book will alert the public and help stop the abuse of power against, and the criminalization of, the mentally ill by certain members of district attorney offices and the judges of their courts.

It is written for Henry, and for every family that has asked for treatment and received a sentence.
